WHAT IS AYURVEDA?

Much before allopathy and homeopathy came an ancient Indian science called Ayurveda that relied entirely on nature’s bounty for its cures. Ayurveda is the traditional, time-tested science of healing with herbs, fruits and minerals that are plentifully available in nature . It is one of the oldest scientific medical systems in the world, with a long record of clinical expertise of famous Ayurvedic sages like Dhanvantri, Sushruta and Charaka, whose legacy was further carried on by Vaids or Ayurvedic doctors. The word “Ayu” denotes all aspects of life from birth to death. The word “Veda” means knowledge or learning. Hence Ayurveda indicates a science by which life, in its totality, is deeply understood. At Dr. Vaidya’s, we rely on 150 years of painstaking research done by the Vaidya family that has given us our proprietary formulations.

HOW IS AYURVEDA DIFFERENT FROM ALLOPATHIC/MODERN MEDICINES?

Modern medicine treats the symptoms in the short term, rather than addressing the root cause of a patient’s suffering. Ayurveda on the other hand, makes its special contributions by addressing the uniqueness of each patient and by helping each body to heal from the root cause of the ailment. Thus, Ayurveda looks at a longer term solution to patient suffering in comparison with modern medicine.

WHAT IS NEW AGE AYURVEDA?

At GreenHearbs we are looking to revolutionize the way Ayurvedic products are marketed. We aim to create new age products that make Ayurveda cool, sexy, fun and aspirational for the modern consumer in a form that is appealing and convenient. We aim to give this traditional science a modern twist.
Yoga is an ancient Indian art form that was taken by the West, packaged in a modern form and now, (with yoga mats and yoga apparel) it is a USD 36b industry. We believe that Ayurveda is at this inflection point and our desire is to help grow this science globally through a new age approach.

WHY IS AYURVEDA UNIQUE AS COMPARED TO OTHER SYSTEMS OF MEDICINE?

It is one of the oldest scientific medical systems in the world, with a long record of clinical experience from Ayurvedic sages and scriptures. Other than being a form of medicine, Ayurveda is also a way of life that teaches us how to maintain healthy human systems and longevity. Ayurveda treats man as a “whole” – which is a combination of body, mind and soul. Therefore it is a truly holistic and integrative medical system.

DO AYURVEDIC MEDICINES HAVE ANY SIDE–EFFECTS?

All Ayurvedic medicines are natural and safe with no side effects. They can be used for children too. Certain Ayurvedic medicines do require a physician’s advice.

ARE AYURVEDIC MEDICINES USED FOR CHRONIC AILMENTS ONLY?

A large number of people look towards allopathy for a cure to an ailment. When the results are negative, they turn to Ayurveda. By this time the disease becomes chronic. Therefore there is a misconception that Ayurvedic drugs cannot be used for minor ailments like cold, cough, fever, acidity, loose motions and other aches and pains. At GreenHearbs we have formulations that do treat such minor, non-chronic ailments as well.
